The Elizabeth River in Norfolk has tremendous historical significance, is home to the world’s largest naval base, supports vibrant maritime commerce, features mile marker zero of the Inter-coastal Waterway, and much more.  Tour this fascinating riverfront aboard the beautiful classic Chesapeake Bay deadrise motor yacht MARINER IV (www.americanrover.com/Mariner%20IV%20Custom%20Charters).

The cruise on the morning of Monday, October 15th will focus on the impacts of sea level rise upon the waterfront.  The highest forecast tides of 2012 coincidently occur during OCEANS’12.  You’ll observe the effects of common astronomical tides today, and see firsthand the potential effects of storm surges in the presence of elevated future water levels.

Cruises are two hours in length and depart from the docks at Town Point in Norfolk.  Shuttle buses depart the Virginia Beach Convention Center at 08:00 for the morning.  Each cruise is limited to just 20 persons so gather your friends and reserve early.
